Position Description

The Program Director of the University of Pittsburgh Brain Institute (UPBI) will work with UPBI faculty, as well as the Schools of Health Sciences and University-wide advancement and communications staff to plan and implement UPBI programs. These programs include a robust seed-funding program, BRAINstorm Meetings, BRAIN day, as well as internal meetings and activities designed to get faculty working effectively on large-scale funding opportunities. The Program Director will also work with UPBI leadership to identify and shape priorities of federal and nonfederal funding agencies, nominate UPBI faculty for advisory committees, and communicate about UPBI initiatives to ensure that UPBI faculty are involved in shaping national research priorities. The Program Director will also help support faculty working on writing white papers and position papers that seek to shape the federal agenda of brain science.

In supporting the planning and organization of meetings designed to set the agenda for national priorities in brain science research, the Program Director will coordinate these meetings and the deliverables that result and help to develop the communications strategy and materials for UPBI. The Program Director will work to identify ways in which the work and ideas of UPBI faculty can be most effectively communicated with audiences outside of academia. This task will require communicating with diverse internal and external groups, including groups from other academic institutions, corporations and government.

Mater’s or a doctorate degree in a scientific field preferred.
