Position Details

We are seeking a highly motivated Ph.D/MFA researcher to support and contribute archival and field research as a research associate in three distinct subject areas related to longform journalism projects: presidential correspondence, urban redevelopment of Pennsylvania’ s Mon valley, and twentieth¬≠ century women aviators. This position under the direction of University of Pittsburgh Professor Jeanne Marie Laskas offers the opportunity to work in a high-quality research environment with strong collaborations with local and national journalists, editors and industry leaders. We seek an exceptional researcher with an advanced degree in journalism or nonfiction writing who has a substantial record of national publication and prior experience in interviewing, reporting and archival research methodology. Experience with Scriver and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred. Additional knowledge of US history, national and local politics and aviation would be a strong asset, as are the following characteristics: strength in research methods, excellent organizational and writing skills, demonstrated ability to take initiative and follow through, and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues. There will be opportunities to remain active in publishing.
