Position Details

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time Research Assistant Professor position on a 12-month basis with an anticipated start date of 1 September 2017. This position is outside of the tenure stream and subject to annual review. Applicants must have a PhD in biology. The position entails performing research in the laboratory of Dr. James M. Pipas; primary responsibilities will be the purification and characterization of the large and small T antigens encoded by lymphotrophic polyomavirus (LPV) and New Jersey Polyomavirus. This characterization includes assay of the intrinsic enzymatic activities carried by the T antigens, but also the identification of cellular binding partners. Additional responsibilities include the design and construction of mutant T antigens and for assaying their effects on cultured cells.
