Position Description

The department of Otolaryngology is seeking a medical doctor or an equivalently degreed individual trained in pathology to carry out research studies using tissues harvested from human cancer patients. This individual will need to identify blocks for studies, arranging for cutting, staining and interpretation of IHC; assist in the construction of tissue microarrays with staining and interpretation (IHC) including quantitative image analysis; oversee optimization of new antibodies for IHC; interpret all translation tissue studies (mostly human but some xenografts); and assist with preparation of abstracts, grants and manuscripts by providing a written description of methods, results and figures when necessary. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for developing new methodology and special immunohistochemical and in-situ hybridization techniques and stains, construct tissue microarrays for SPORE initiatives, acquire digital imaging of immunohistochemical slides, and perform quantitation. Demonstrated teaching and supervisory skills a plus.

M.D. or equivalent degree with a minimum of three years postgraduate pathology experience.
