Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh department of Student Health Service is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner.

This is a nine month position. Under the direction of and in collaboration with a physician, the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant serves as a primary health care provider and participates directly in the management of patients in the areas of adult medicine. These areas include general medicine, minor office surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, dermatology and mental health. Administers, coordinates and plans therapeutic regimens to promote and maintain health and prevent complications. Initiates referrals to appropriate resources necessary to provide quality services. Interprets findings and laboratory data utilized in differential diagnosis; documents patient care services in the electronic medical record in an accurate and timely manner.

Expedites patient to appropriate level of care as necessary. Actively participates in continuing education of staff and students as necessary.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 3-5 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Graduate of an accreditated school of nursing, graduate of an approved CRNP or PA program. Current licensure as an RN and a CRNP in the Commonwealth of Pennsyvania including prescriptive authority. Current CPR certification. Experience in college health or ambulatory care highly desirable.

Required Licenses/Certifications

Must have current CRNP or PA license with prescriptive authority in the State of PA.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
