Position Description

The incumbent will serve as an Financial Account Coordinator for the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. Responsibilities include post-award management and administration of grants and contracts (including clinical trials) along with non-sponsored research commitments for UPCI faculty.

Specific duties include: Post-award management of grant and clinical trial funds: verification, approval, and processing of expenditures for accuracy and compliance with University and sponsoring agency guidelines; provide investigators with monthly financial reports; billing and other general fiscal duties for specified grants/contracts. Management of non-sponsored research accounts that relate to specific faculty members and coordination of reporting between all accounts within a faculty member’s portfolio. Monitor activity of the University’s Research Accounting Department as it interfaces with the UPCI Fiscal operation. With input from investigators, independently formulate complex budgets and budget justifications reflective of the proposed research. Work closely with UPCI Clinical Research Services to determine clinical and contract milestones achieved. Initiate invoices and follow-up correspondence for revenue collection.

Ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines as well as be a team player required. The incumbent must be familiar with University policies and procedures as well as external funding source guidelines.

Candidate must be able to work in a professional manner with department and University contacts. Strong accounting, finance, budgeting, analysis and computer skills necessary. Excellent oral and written skills required.

Accounting or business/finance related bachelor’s degree required. A minimum of 2 years experience in sponsored project administration is preferred.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
