Position Description

This senior development position directly oversees corporate and foundation fund-raising activities for the Office of Institutional Advancement and will manage three professional staff and one administrative assistant. The Executive Director will be responsible for developing and implementing university-wide strategies for cultivating and soliciting foundations. The Executive Director will work closely with University leadership, key faculty, the school-based CFR and development officers, and other University departments and divisions, especially the Offices of the Provost and the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research. The Executive Director’s activities must help advance, when possible, identified University priority initiatives and will typically involve active cultivation of key prospects, face-to-face meetings with foundation leaders, and foundation gift solicitation. The Executive Director will manage a prospect pool of at least 50 major CFR prospects. In addition to the duties defined, the Executive Director will act as a consultant to all OIA Development Officers on foundation outreach.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Five to seven years of development experience is preferred; corporate experience is required.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
