The college health nurse serves as a part-time staff member working in collaboration with other Student Affairs and Counseling Services staff to enhance students’ experience by promoting health and wellness. The college health nurse assesses and evaluates health problems and conditions in a competent, knowledgeable and professional manner, providing treatment for minor health problems/conditions. Services offered include initial assessment and treatment of health problems and injuries, health counseling, referrals on campus and in the community as needed. In addition, the health services program is designed to encourage self-reliance and personal responsibility for health, promote health education, and foster healthy lifestyles. Health Services works to empower students to be self-guided and well-informed consumers of health care services. Confidentiality is maintained at all times.
|Minimum Related Experience Level Required||3-5 years experience|
|Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position||
Licensed as a RN in Pennsylvania. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred.
CPR certification, Strong physical assessment skills, Experience in a role that requires independent judgement and decision making skills, Strong written and verbal communication skills, Self-motivated, Demonstrate a knowledge of and sensitivity to diverse patient cultures and a commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
|Child Protection Clearances||
The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
