The University of Pittsburgh Surgery Division of Transplant Institute is seeking a Research Technician.
The candidate will operate within the human biorepository at the Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute. The candidate should be proficient with various human cellular immunology and molecular biology techniques, be able to identify/troubleshoot technical problems, optimize protocols, and maintain daily miscellaneous tasks in the lab. The candidate is also required to maintain a database of samples utilizing “Freezerworks” software, prepare reports, and assist with sample disbursement.
The candidate should be highly motivated and detail oriented, will be expected to interact with coordinators, faculty and lab personnel. Will need to address and solve problems using new ideas or adapting existing practices appropriately. Sound judgment, strong organizational skills and exceptional interpersonal skills are a must. A Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences or a related field is required along with 3 years of experience in a biological or medical research laboratory.
