The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Library Specialist for the Law Library. The Incumbent will be responsible for the receipt of serials/continuations, claiming library materials, and preparation of serials and monographs for shipment to the bindery using Able bindery preparation software. All work performed using Voyage integrated library system and OCLC Connexion. The incumbent will be required to work scheduled and, on occasion, on-call hours at Circulation Desk as part of the Circulation Desk staff rotation. Responsible for copy cataloging of some standing orders. Responsible for maintaining Legal Scholarship Blog.
Incumbent is part of a team of librarians and staff members responsible for all technical services department activities-. Incumbent may be called on to assist other members of the team in order to achieve required goals and complete departmental activities. Works as a member of the Circulation Desk staff rotation. Changing library priorities due to budgetary and workflow considerations or special projects will result in occasional requirements to perform or assist with other library activities. Work originates with mail received or from supervisor. Uses a personal computer, photocopier. Work is forwarded to supervisor, student assistants for further processing or library shelves.

|Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position||
Bachelor’s degree required.
Previous experience working in a library technical services department. Some experience working with serials and some experience working with Voyager, OCLC, and/or other online library systems.
Incumbent must be able to master specialized training in use of the library’s online database systems. Incumbent must possess oral communication skills to permit effective communication with staff, vendors, and patrons. Computer literacy includes Windows operating system, word processing, spreadsheet and library software. Ability to keep accurate records and high aptitude for detail-oriented work. Ability to work with little supervision. Ability to learn the Able Bindery System by the end of the probationary period. Ability to learn and use WordPress software for blog positing.
