Pittsburgh is a rejuvenated community nestled at the junction of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers in the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania. It boasts three professional athletic teams, the Steelers, the Pirates, and the Penguins, not to mention the strong local support of the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. It has marked cultural diversity from the collection of Old Masters in the Carnegie Museum of Art or the Broadway musicals presented by the Civic Light Opera to the world-class Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Recreational activities are easily accessible including camping and hiking in nearby State and National Forests, fishing and boating on the three rivers and surrounding lakes, whitewater rafting in Pennsylvania or nearby West Virginia, or downhill skiing an hour’s drive from the city on Laurel Mountain. The city is a patch-work of ethnically diverse neighborhoods with a very reasonable cost of living and an open and friendly populace. Pittsburgh is a “big” little city where both urban sophisticates and small town folks can easily feel at home.
The successful candidate will have a balance of clinical and scholarly activities. The Division’s clinical scope is broad, including coverage of the antepartum service and labor and delivery, obstetrical ultra sound, prenatal diagnosis procedures, and perinatal consultation. Excellent communication skills and ability to function in a consultative role are required. Successful candidates must be board certified in MFM, or at a career stage appropriate to be considered for candidacy for board certification. Candidates must possess an MD or DO. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
