Position Description

The Sponsored Projects Assistant will provide pre-award support for sponsored research in the Dietrich School. The assistant will provide high quality support to assigned departments. This includes providing direct support to faculty in preparing budgets and assisting with proposal submission to granting agencies, primarily federal agencies. Responsibilities include: preparing complex budgets, projecting annual research expenses, analyzing funding trends, being knowledgeable about federal grant polices, and keeping up to date with changes in the research environment. The incumbent, with direction from their supervisor, will interpret and apply University and Federal Agency policies and procedures. The ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and respond quickly to changing priorities is essential to the success of this position. A Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is preferable; must have at least 1 year of experience in research administration.

1 year of fiscal experience and research administration required, with additional experience preferred. The ability to quickly gain familiarity with University financial systems and policies is required. Experience with Excel and account management software is required.
