Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Research Technician to work in the multi-modal imaging facility for in vivo and ex vivo animal imaging with micro-CT/SPECT/PET, micro-MRI, ultrasound, bioluminescent and fluorescent animal imaging, as well as ultrasound-guided microinjection in live animals. The Research Technician will be responsible to assist users on research projects involving the imaging modality, assisting with animal and animal preparation, as well as post-imaging data processing. The Research Technician will also need to assist with equipment and facility maintenance, repairs, daily QC (quality control), as well as supply and reagent management. This candidate must be able to get inside the high magnetic field with no metal implants or pace maker and with physical agility to handle equipment. Must be willing to work with live animals and handle animal tissues. Knowledge with animal physiology, biology, basic electronics, and computer. Ability to multitask, good manual skills to handle small objects, and good personality to work with wide range of users. Requires high degree of attention of detail. Results must be accurate. Organization and timeliness are key. Previous laboratory experience, in particular animal imaging, essential.

TB test, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required as a condition of employment.

Bachelor’s degree in biology, biomedical engineering, pharmacology, or related fields. Previous experience in animal imaging.
