Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant in the Department of Student Health Services. This is a nine month position. Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager, the candidate participates in delivery of medical care to students of University by assisting the professional staff in performing specific patient care and diagnostic procedures, as well as clerical activities as indicated to assure quality care. This includes but is not limited to escorting patients to and from the clinic exam rooms, taking and recording vitals, preparing exam rooms prior to and following an exam, specimen collection, administration of flu vaccines, etc. The candidate will also assist the nursing staff with inventory management of supplies. Accurately and timely enters clinical data into the Electronic Health Record. He/she will also participate in various departmental outreach initiatives, including our HEALTHY U Fair.

Education Required High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Related Experience Level Required 2-3 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program. Current BLS Certification.

Required Licenses/Certifications
Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
