Position Details

Assistant Professor (OTS)-The Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences (BCHS) in the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh (http://www.bchs.pitt.edu/) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the area of modeling and simulation in public health.
Candidates should have training and experience in multi-disciplinary research with a focus on modeling of social dynamics and health disparities.

BCHS applies cutting-edge multimethod science to improve the health of communities, with a focus on health equity . The Department has a strong commitment to practice-oriented research, evidence-based interventions, and dissemination of findings. Our faculty improves health outcomes through better understanding of’ the social determinants of health.

We seek an Assistant Professor able to teach, mentor/advise students, and develop/conduct research through collaborations with local, regional, national, and international health delivery systems to produce the next generation of analysis tools for the exploration of critical public health problems.

The successful candidate will teach in the Department’s masters and doctoral programs and introduce our students to cutting-edge methods in modeling and simulation, including agent-based models and systems science. Demonstrated evidence of scholarly productivity and the potential to transition to independent investigator status are required.

We seek candidates with an interest in collaborating across disciplines within the schools of the health sciences and across the University. The successful candidate will work well in a collegial environment, show promise for excellence in teaching and research, and use modeling and simulation to investigate effects of social and policy environments on health disparities.

The successful candidate will have either an earned doctorate in a behavioral, public health, or a social science discipline with training in public health research and practice.
