Health Policy/Health Services Research Assistant Professor/Tenure Stream Position

The Department of Health Policy & Management, Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh is seeking a health services researcher for a full time, tenure stream faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. There are two positions open. Candidates should have demonstrated potential for publishing and competing for external funding. The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent communication and teaching skills with prior classroom experience and develop and teach masters and doctoral level courses in the field of health services research and policy, health services management and related fields.

A research-oriented doctoral degree is required. Candidates with research and teaching interests in all disciplines or areas of health services research and policy are encouraged to apply. A research and teaching emphasis in the following areas will be particularly valued: (1) health economics or cost effectiveness analysis; (2) health policy; (3) Medicare and Medicaid claims analysis, (4) decision sciences, (5) mathematical modeling and simulation, (6) operations research, or (7) patient safety and quality of care.

The Department of Health Policy & Management resides in the Graduate School of Public Health, which includes 164 faculty members in seven departments who collectively hold more than $50 million dollars in externally funded research grants, with the Health Policy and Management department holding over $3 million a year in external funding. The department offers an accredited Master’s in Health Administration, a Master’s of Public Health, a Master’s of Science ai1d PhD in Health Services Research and Policy, and currently has over 70 students enrolled across these programs. In addition, we have several joint degrees, including a newly opened MHA/MBA degree with the Katz School of Business, and a JD/MPH program with the School of Law. Faculty research programs concentrate on long term care, health care financing, reimbursement, decision sciences, cost effectiveness analysis and many other health policy areas.
