Position Details

POSITION: Assistant/Associate Professor, Tenure Stream, Full-Time (9-Month) faculty member within the Department of Communication Science and Disorders, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Pittsburgh.

CONTENT AREA: Neurogenic Speech, Language/Cognition or Fluency Disorders (position is open to area(s) of expertise within these broad areas)

STARTING DATE: Between January 2, 2018 and September 1, 2018 DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES:
The faculty member will: ..
1. Be responsible for developing and maintaining an independent, extramurally funded program of research within neurogenic Speech, Language/Cognition or Fluency disorders in area(s) of expertise.
2. Be responsible for teaching didactic, seminar, laboratory or clinical courses each of two academic semesters in area(s) of expertise, to students enrolled in the CSD Department [teaching assignments can vary depending on salary support from funded’ research].
3. Be responsible for directing student research within areas of research expertise at all levels of the curriculum (e.g., undergraduate Honors Theses, Master’s Theses, Clinical Doctorate Writing Projects, Ph.D. Research Experiences and Dissertations), but particularly within the research doctorate.
4. Participate in departmental, school, university and professional service.
5. If clinically trained, obtain and maintain professional credentials such as the Certificate of Clinical Competence, PA State Licensure and specialty certification/recognition (if available) in areas of clinical/research expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS;

Degree Qualification: A Ph.D. or equivalent research doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders or related discipline with demonstrated expertise in specified subject areas. CCC-SLP is preferred but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Experience-Research: The candidate will have demonstrated research independence and the success in or motivation and skills for acquiring extramural funds to support their programmatic research and independence in leading a productive laboratory.

Experience-Teaching: The candidate will demonstrate successful experience and/or a strong motivation for excellence in classroom and laboratory teaching.

Experience-Service: The candidate will demonstrate successful academic collaboration and/or a strong motivation for such collaboration and sharing a common goal with faculty colleagues for building and maintaining excellence in research and clinical education in a research extensive department, school and university.

Starting Date: The duties of this position can begin between January 2, 2018 and September 1, 2018, depending on the prior obligations of the individual hired.
