Job Summary

The University is seeking a student employee for its Mechanicsburg Office. The Youth Ambassador is an individual who has had involvement with the child welfare system as a youth. This position brings a youth and foster care perspective to the various state initiatives of the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Resource Center (Resource Center) in efforts to enhance child welfare practices for better outcomes for children, youth, and families. The Youth Ambassador must be willing and able to appropriately share personal experiences as a youth involved with the child welfare system. The Youth Ambassador functions as a member of the Organizational Effectiveness team and the Statewide Quality Improvement Department.

Job Requirements

Must be in or have been in foster care or other child welfare placement (e.g. group home), preferably as an older youth, and must be enrolled in a post-secondary university, college, or technical school in the Southeast region of Pennsylvania. Must be willing and able to appropriately share personal experiences as well as the knowledge of and connection to other youth’s experiences while living as youth in placement.

Must have excellent analytical, problem solving, writing, and collaboration skills. Must be able to facilitate meetings and make presentations to large groups such as universities, counties, state government and other public and private human service organizations.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Regular travel to the Mechanicsburg, PA office and the ability to travel throughout the state are required.

Note: Position is located in the Southeast region of Pennsylvania.

PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required as a condition of employment.
