Position Details

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for one fullĀ­ time Lecturer position on a 12-month basis and two full-time Lab Instructor positions on 8-month bases in Foundations of Biology Labs with anticipated start dates of 1 September 2017 pending budgetary approval. These positions are outside of the tenure stream and subject to annual review. Applicants must have an MS or PhD in biology. The 12-month Lecturer position is for a Foundations of Biology Laboratory Coordinator who will teach two sections of an authentic research based, or directed inquiry based, lab course during both the fall and spring semesters and provide support as part of a leadership team for -120 lab sections. Duties include administrative oversight (makeup lab scheduling, disability accommodations, grade monitoring, lab accident reporting, student/instructor grievances),
instructor hiring and training, course website management, curriculum development, and course assessment. The two 8-month Lab Instructor positions entail teaching five sections of either authentic
research based, or guided inquiry based, Foundations of Biology Laboratory during both the fall and spring semesters, as well as providing service to the leadership team, including writing quizzes and assignments, reviewing content of student assessments, and leading small groups during instructor training sessions.
