Position Details

The Department of Music of the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a faculty position to begin September 1, 201 7, pending budgetary approval. The renewable appointment will be made at the level of Lecturer, not in the tenure stream, for an initial term of three years.

Position: Lecturer in Music Theory; full-time, non-tenure stream.

Duties: Teach undergraduate courses and graduate seminars in music theory and analysis, 3 courses per semester; assist graduate students with theses and dissertations; participate actively in the profession; share in departmental responsibilities.

Qualifications:" Candidates will have received the PhD or DMA degree by August 2017 and
demonstrated evidence of scholarly promise and excellence in teaching.
The successful candidate will work closely with the composition/theory faculty. We are particularly interested in candidates whose interests complement those of current faculty,
who are highly skilled in musical analysis, particularly of non-tonal music, and who can
work across sub-disciplines within the department and with colleagues else
