Position Details

The Department of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor, non-tenure stream, in the area of Immunology. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree or equivalent. The Department is searching for an individual with extensive expertise in adaptive cellular immunity to human viruses of current public health interest (such as HIV, HPV, or dengue virus), antigen presentation, antigen presenting cells such as B cells and dendritic cells, and immune checkpoint pathways (such as the PD-1/PDL-1 pathway) and checkpoint inhibition strategies. The selected individual will be required to plan, direct and execute complex immunologial experiments to test T cell mediated reactivity to viral epitopes, demonstrate practical, extensive knowledge of flow cytometry with a multi-laser, high-throughput instrument; apply the latest knowledge and techniques to identify immunological surrogates of protection to infectious diseases, and manage and supervise a diverse team of technical personnel as well as students.
