Position Details

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a Lectureship with a primary specialization in Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, and Serbian (BCMS) language teaching and secondary specializations in Russian language teaching and in Slavic linguistics, pending budgetary approval. This position is outside the tenure stream, and has an initial three-year appointment that will commence in August, 2016. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applicants must have a PhD in hand at time of application; native or near-native proficiency in BCMS, Russian, and English; and strong interest in and experience teaching BCMS and Russian at introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels. The following additional qualifications are strongly preferred:
1. OPI certification by ACTFL as a tester of BCMS, Russia, or both.
2. Experience leading study-abroad programs.
3. Research specialization in South Slavic or East Slavic linguistics.
